On the previous day, JCB’s aerial work platforms announced their performance results for the year 2023.
After strong growth in 2022, global sales of mobile elevating work platforms increased by 0.5% year-on-year in 2023, reaching 164,225 units (excluding the Chinese market), with the North American market accounting for 48% of the global market. In 2023, JCB’s sales of aerial work platforms reached 8,647 units, an increase of 13.7% year-on-year, with its global market share surpassing 5%, reaching 5.3%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the previous year. JCB’s aerial work platforms maintained relatively strong growth in the context of a slowdown in global market growth in 2023.
In 2023, building upon the achievements of 2022, JCB launched the A45E electric articulated boom lift and A45EH hybrid articulated boom lift, as well as the T65D diesel straight boom lift; the customized hydraulic drive (H-Drive) scissor lift successfully entered the South Korean market. JCB announced plans to continue expanding its aerial work platform product line in 2024, with plans to introduce the A60E electric version and A60EH hybrid version of the articulated boom lift, as well as the T85D diesel straight boom lift, while also releasing an upgraded electric drive (E-Drive) scissor lift for the South Korean and Australian markets.

As a relatively young business area under JCB, the JCB aerial work platform achieved sales of £121.5 million in 2023 (compared to £88 million in 2022), representing a year-on-year growth of 37.5%; the pre-tax profit was £15.298 million (2022: £1.199 million).
JCB expects that the global aerial work platform market and its aerial work platform business will continue to grow. JCB’s short-term goal for aerial work platforms is to focus on launching new products while expanding the sales and support network, continuously enhancing its global market position and market share.
